ATCAA’s Homeless Shelter Receives a New Refrigerator from the Sutter Creek Lions Club

JACKSON, CA. When Gloria and Chuck Swiderski heard that the homeless shelter had only one small fridge to feed 22 people on any given day, they knew they needed to help. They quickly reached out to the Sutter Creek Lions Club members of which Gloria serves as President and Chuck serves as Secretary. The very next day, Chuck arrived at the shelter to measure the space to place a new refrigerator purchased and donated by the Lyons.

“I can’t thank them enough for the good they do for our community and the shelter,” says Lesley Mace, ATCAA Shelter Coordinator. “Their enthusiasm to help our community is contagious.”

Gloria and Chuck, along with the Sutter Creek Lions, have helped the shelter throughout the years with new dressers, mattresses and many things for the families who come through.

The shelter sets aside 3 family-only dorms and 1 women-only dorm and a has a total of 22 beds. The family dorms are 100% occupied all year round. Currently, the shelter is housing 3 families with a total of 9 children and its women’s dorm is full.

Funding to keep the shelter open year-round is needed as State funding has limitations and restrictions. The shelter is always in need of large and small donations to help our families and provide a safe and healthy atmosphere at our shelter.

Needs change often. If you are interested in donating to the ATCAA Homeless Shelter, please call Lesley Mace at (209) 223-9215. Learn more about the shelter and all ATCAA’s programs at ATCAA.org.
