GUIDELINES
The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program offers free tax help to people who's households earn $67,000 or less, persons with disabilities, the elderly and limited English speaking taxpayers who need assistance in preparing their own tax returns. IRS-certified volunteers provide free basic income tax return preparation with electronic filing to qualified individuals.
Some tax situations may be out of our scope. Note that we cannot process returns for the following situations:
-Married filing separately.
-Income (or loss) from rental property or Schedule K-1, and royalties.
-Filing with a FEMA claim in the tax year that we are preparing.
-Filing as a Conservator or Power of Attorney on behalf of someone else.
WHAT IF I DON'T HAVE A BANK ACCOUNT?
Go to BANK ON, whose goal is to ensure that everyone has access to a safe and affordable bank or credit union account. These low-cost, no-overdraft, no-surprise-fee accounts can help you claim your refund and steer you clear of expensive alternative financial services, including check cashers, payday lenders, and pawn shops that charge high fees.
