Amazon Delivers Huge Donation

Amazon donates $76,000 worth of food and goods to ATCAA Sonora, CA. -A semi-truck stuffed full of donated items made its way from Amazon's fulfillment center in Newark, California to Amador Tuolumne Community Action Agency's warehouse in Jamestown late Friday afternoon. The unexpected windfall was the result of a conversation between ATCAA's Accounts Payable department and Amazon over an unrelated matter. Amazon took an interest and learned more about ATCAA's programs and its mission to fight poverty. On Friday, the agency received notice that Amazon was on its way to the foothills to deliver an undisclosed amount of goods to help ATCAA fulfill its mission. "This is an unexpected gift that will benefit our entire community," says Raj Rambob, Executive Director. "We are grateful and happy that the foothill region was recognized by such an industry giant as Amazon." ATCAA serves low income residents and provides help with food, emergency shelter, early childhood education (Head Start) energy costs, weatherization, housing assistance, youth and senior support, suicide prevention and much more. ATCAA's Food Bank warehouse was the logical choice to accept the delivery of this size." Our only dilemma now," stated Deni Avery, Food Bank Director, "is where to sort and store all of these items before our Holiday Food basket distribution." It's a great dilemma to have," says Rambob, "I'm sure we can work something out, though we could use a few volunteers right now." Amador Tuolumne Community Action Agency, as the later part of it's name states, is one of over 1,000 Community Action Agencies established nationwide. It's mission is to help people toward self-sufficiency and be contributing members of their community as well as working to form partnerships within the community to help all reach their maximum potential. In the days ahead, ATCAA will inventory the donated goods and develop a distribution plan. If you would like to volunteer for this project or other upcoming needs, please call ATCAA in Jackson at 209-223-1485 or Sonora at 209-533-1397
